SCITEQ X-ACT Series online measurement of single layer PE and PVC pipes

Although originally conceived to measure multi layer pipes, the X-ACT series can also be used to measure single layer pipes. The limiting factor is often the wall thickness/diameter combination. Below are two graphs which show roughly the maximum thickness that can be measured on any given diameter using either a 70kV or 120kV X-ray system. Both are available in our program.

The obvious benefits of using this technique to measure single layer pipes are:
• No contact measurement
• Not temperature dependant
• Absolute measurements, systems do not require constant calibration
• High accuracy
• OD, ID, ovality and wall thickness all measured
